Bipolar disorder, affecting millions globally, is often misunderstood and stigmatized. Manon Schabaillie, founder of HopeStage, highlights that it's a serious mental illness involving intense phases of impulsivity/energy and apathy/depression. Misconceptions exist regarding unpredictability and violence, while suicidal tendencies are frequent during depressive phases. Bipolarity often presents with co-occurring conditions like addiction, anxiety, and eating disorders. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial for managing the disorder, although it is not completely curable.
